CAFÉ DU PARC'S CELEBRATION OF PROVINCIAL INFLUENCES ON FRENCH BISTRO COOKING CONTINUES WITH NEW PROVENCE MENU

Washington D.C., June 2, 2008 – Continuing the celebration of its traditional French bistro roots, Café du Parc will feature the cuisine of the Provence region starting June 21 and running through the end of July. Prepared by rising star Chef Christophe Marque, the Provençal specialties will be offered for lunch and dinner. The traditional delicacies include: Salade niçoise (Olive oil poached tuna, green beans, quail eggs, white anchovies, Niçoise olives, mesclun greens tossed with balsamic vinaigrette)

Côtes d'agneau rôties aux herbes de Provence, polenta au parmesan (Roasted lamb chops with Provence herbs, parmesan polenta), Bayaldi de légumes Provençaux (Confit tomato, eggplant, zucchini, and onions topped with a soft boiled egg), and Pissaladière (Homemade dough topped with caramelized onions, Niçoise olives and anchovies). Prices will range from $9.95 to $28.95.

S ommelier Caterina Abbruzzetti will be feature affordable wines of France 's southeast region by the glass, to a ccompany the specialty dishes. Most famed for its Rosé, Abbruzzetti will be offering Provence's Domaine Ott 2006, a sweet and dry rosé with a light hue; Bandol, a full bodied red wine made from the Mourvèdre grape and aged a minimum of 18 months producing a full, rich wine which has hints of lavender, rosemary and thyme, among others all native to the region. Prices will range from $9.00 to $14.00 per glass.

Café du Parc will follow its salute to Provence with a fall celebration of the cuisine of Aquitane, taking place September 23 through Oct 31.
